Staff Development Case Study
A manager asked us to investigate the management styles of the 9 managers who reported directly to them. The specification was to raise individuals' awareness of their own management approach or preferences, and to appreciate and reflect on how their management style is perceived by those they manage.
We developed a questionnaire that was sent to all the relevant staff and the results we fed back directly to our independent consultant, ensuring that people would be comfortable and open with their comments.
The results were compiled and presented back to the managers in a group session. The session was comprised of a mix of different styles (1–to–1 coaching on some points and open discussions on other areas).
We also offered the individual managers opportunities for 1–to–1 coaching in the future along with the creation of personal development plans.
